Who Are We?
Optimizers.
I’m Amanda Martin. I am a mother of two, a devoted wife, a homeschooler, and a physicist.
My husband and I both worked on the Hobby-Eberly Telescope at McDonald Observatory in Fort Davis, TX. Our opto-mechanical team was responsible for the telescope’s primary mirror array. Essentially, this means the quality of the optics, the sensor systems, the actuator systems, and much more. We fancy ourselves “system optimizers” and we always enjoy a good science problem to resolve.
I graduated with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin, with two B.S. degrees, one in Physics and another in Astronomy.
My experiences in academia and in homeschooling have convinced me that math and science are best done “off the page”. Hands-on learning! Real-world applications! The programs we create here at Martin Math are in this spirit.
Located in Mineral County, West Virginia, we work with math students of all ages in the surrounding counties. In Summer of 2024, we’ll begin offering our custom-made MathLabs and project kits that are designed to supplement and super-charge a student’s study in particular subject areas.
We support the local homeschooling community by organizing an annual, local Science Expo event. We hope you can join us!
